Who Should Attend

The CHIPS Research Institute is designed for approximately 18 doctorally-prepared participants who have an interest in research in children or adolescents with psychiatric disorders with a focus on prevention and treatment interventions or mental health services research.  The Institute is geared toward:

  • Postdoctoral Research Fellows

  • Fellows in Child Psychiatry with an interest in research

  • Early Career Faculty who have not yet obtained independent funding (i.e., a K award, R34, or first R01). Small foundation grants and institutional funding do not make a candidate ineligible to participate in CHIPS)

We accept MDs in a variety of disciplines (e.g., psychiatry, neurology, pediatrics) and PhDs in the following areas:

  • Psychology

  • Social Work

  • Nursing

  • Public Health

  • Epidemiology/Biostatistics

  • Digital Health/Data Sciences

  • other PhD areas (send us an email and check with us if you have a different doctoral degree)

CHIPS cannot accept applicants whose primary interest is in substance or alcohol misuse. For autism research, services and intervention research (e.g., confirmatory efficacy, effectiveness and hybrid effectiveness-implementation research) are included under the CHIPS umbrella.

Eligibility requires US citizenship or holding a Permanent Resident Card (“Green Card”).
